The figures of Indians should be strictly kept in the country: Vijay Shekhar of Paytm

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma said on Thursday that the data related to the people of India (digital information) should be strictly kept in the country so that such information about consumers is well protected. During the discussion in the TIE India Internet Day 2019 conference, Sharma said that if any information is also wanted then he should take it as sampling.

Paytm has already stressed that there is a need to keep sensitive data stored on the local level, including financial transactions. Sharma said that some companies argue that data needs to be kept in other geographical areas for better product development. They should consider doing so in India. said that when our development center is present here, instead of keeping the data out of the country, why not put the software to this part of the world. So, think about bringing the code here and running it. Sharma stressed that there is a huge talent in India which can meet this demand.

Data sovereignty is an important issue on which the Government of India is considering. Based on the recommendations of the Justice Srikrishna Committee, data protection bill is being finalized. After this, it will be presented before the Cabinet for approval.
